ANYA defers bandh

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has deferred its proposed 24 hours Capital bandh today, saying that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has verbally assured to address their demands. This was informed by ANYA President Biri Kakum in a hurriedly convened press conference here this evening.

“Yesterday evening, ANYA members had meeting with Chief Minister at his official residence, wherein CM verbally gave assurance to address our demands” informed Kakum to media persons.

Further Kakum added that in current political situation the ANYA does not want to push on its demands saying as it would be difficult to get cabinet approval on their demands. He also informed that Arunachal Pradesh Artists Forum had written a letter to ANYA appealing them to reconsider the decision of bandh call. “We want first stable political situation after that we will raise our issues again” ANYA added.

Checking drive against gambling

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Continuing its drive against the menace of gambling, the Capital Administration has intensified checking at various locations in the Capital complex. At least five cases have been registered against the gamblers at Naharlagun Police Station by Executive Magistrates Tame Yajum and Neelam Teji. The executive magistrates are carrying out the checking drive from 5pm till morning.

An official release stated that the Capital Administration will keep on continuing its drive against such law breakers and illegal gamblers. Till now, many gambling spots have been raided and a large number of dice materials including dice play boxes, dice mats, dice cubes etc have been seized. A large number of liquor bottles along with some cash have also been seized. DIPRO

GHSS gets auditorium

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The auditorium of Govt Higher Secondary School Itanagar was inaugurated today by Parliamentary Secretary UD, Housing and Land Management, Techi Kaso in a function attended by Chief Councillor, IMC, Kipa Kaku, DC, Mige Kamki, Councillor Ward 12, Yumlam Minu, Director of School Education, Principal, teachers and students.

Advising the teachers to produce quality students, Kaso assured to look into the memorandum submitted by the school community. Chief Councillor Kipa Kaku assured to prioritize for the avenue plantation in and around the school campus.

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The Ward No. 7 Youth Association conducted a mass social service for three days beginning from November 7 in its ward.

Along with the executive members of the association, the headmaster of Senki Park Middle School and his students, more than 60, also participated in the drive.

During the drive, the potholes on the roads were filled, damaged drainage system was repaired and the roadside overgrown shrubs were pruned.

The youths also constructed a new volleyball ground at Senki Valley and donated local made bamboo dustbins in Senki Park middle school as well as the newly constructed volleyball ground.

KDDC for early creation of Kamle district

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The Kamle District Demand Committee (KDDC) had submitted a memorandum to the chief minister for the early creation of Kamle district.

The committee claimed that the CM has accepted the demand in principal and gave his due consideration for its early approval.

Committee demands shifting of school

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The All Phassang Circle Puroik (Solung) Development Committee has demanded urgent shifting of Govt Middle School to Tayer village from Lower Pinchi claiming that the DDSE had shifted the school to Pinchi which already has a school. The committee has written a complaint letter to the chief secretary.

How can a village have two middle schools when no. of students in the previous school cannot even exceed 20? it questioned saying that the school which was shifted by the DDSE is meant for Puroik community.

Ering tours Siang district

PASIGHAT, Nov 12: Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering recently visited Pangin, Sitang, Dite-Dime under Siang district.

At Pangin, the newly constructed Community Hall, funded under MPLAD fund was inaugurated by the Head Gaon Bura Tameng Messar. Ering had sanctioned Rs.35 lakhs for the hall. This time, the MP sanctioned four lakhs for toilets of the village ganging.

At Sitang, the MP approved Rs.4 lakhs for construction of link road from Libing to BRO Road.

Earlier, with a mission to promote sports and games in Dite-Dime Upper Primary School, Rs.3 lakhs was sanctioned by the MP and the developed playground of the school was inaugurated by the Head Gaon Bura of Dite-Dime village, Tapi Tamat. Ering sanctioned additional Rs.3 lakhs for renovation of the school building.

During public meeting in all villages, Ninong Ering appealed the people to cooperate with the administration and the government in all fronts. PRIs have to play prominent role in making people aware of different schemes and programs initiated by the government from time to time, the MP added. People should take full benefit of the Chief Minister's Universal Health Insurance Scheme, the MP said and urged the local officers and leaders to ensure every household is covered.

Calling upon the youth to derive maximum benefit from employment schemes, Ering urged the youth to inculcate spirit of entrepreneurship and look beyond government sector for jobs, adding that the government has launched various schemes to enable youths to start new ventures. DIPRO

Volunteers built parking place, road during cleanliness drive

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: A large number of volunteers comprising of PRI members, Mother`s Vision Group, government officers and members of Officer’s Club Yomcha conducted a two-day long cleanliness drive under the supervision of Yomcha ADC Kego Jilen at Yomcha town which ended on Wednesday.

During the drive, the volunteers built a parking place at Jarbom Gamlin Indoor Stadium, constructed approach road to Lower colony and removed bamboo groves in the town. The DC further ordered all to construct septic tanks within 15 days else their bathroom/toilets will be removed.

Rebia dedicates street lights project to Doimukh people

DOIMUKH, Nov 12: State Legislative Assembly Speaker and local MLA Nabam Rebia dedicated the Street Illumination of Doimukh township at Doimukh yesterday on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali. He congratulated the denizens of Doimukh on the occasion of Deepawali and lauded the Power Department for completing the project in a very smooth manner.

While stressing on the need of awareness to protect public property, Rebia said street lights are also public property, it needs to be properly safeguarded.

The 100 lakhs SPA project which has been executed by Power Department, Papum Pare district covers stretch from Rono Village to CHC, Doimukh upto Dikrong River bridge.

Society seeks justice

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Claiming that constable Kiran Yomdo was killed by an over speeding car at Akajan in Assam while on her way to duty place Changlang yesterday, the Yomdo Welfare Society has demanded for the immediate arrest of the culprit/s involved.

In its appeal to the director general of police, the society has asked him to request his counterpart to expedite the case and book the culprit/s immediately.

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The PRI leaders of 75th Karsingsa Panchayat-II and 76th Banderdewa Panchayat have reiterated their demand for reconsideration of constructing Greenfield airport at Karsingsa/Banderdewa site.

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: VKV Amliang of Anjaw district emerged as winners in both football and volley ball finals of a two-day long cluster level Ma. Eknathji Memorial Cup Football & Volleyball Tournament, which concluded at VKV Roing on Tuesday.

In all, five teams from the VKVs of Niausa, Jairampur, Kharsang, Amliang and Roing of Lohit and Tirap took part in the tournament which was inaugurated by Lower Dibang Valley DSP Habung Hailyang.

State badminton team leaves for Andhra

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: A 13-member badminton team from Arunachal Pradesh, including three officials, left here for Andhra Pradesh to participate in the 29th Sub-Junior (U-13 & U-15) National Badminton Championship beginning at Vishakhapatnam from November 16 to 19.

The team: (Boys): Kenith Tamin, Kirto Nyorak, Sonam Tamang, Biki Lakai, Nikhil Chetry and Laa Tukum. (Girls) Yumlam Mopi, Kapu Rumi, Nisha Upadhyaya and Laa Sonia.

Tang Memorial Football: Capital Complex face APP in final

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Capital Complex will lock horns with Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) in the final of the 14th Tadar Tang Memorial State Level Football Tournament at Jubilee ground, Tezu tomorrow.

Capital Complex entered into the final beating West Siang 3-2 in a hard fought match today.

Bengia Tagi scored two goals (58 & 89 Mins.) and Gyamar Sangkro one goal for the winning team. Karmar Rike (25 Mins) and Karli Ngomdir (45 Mins) scored one goal each for West Siang.

APP beat Namsai 3-0 in the second semifinal.

Liki Lirin scored the first goal in 13th minute while Gubenso Drai scored two goals in 21st and 75th minutes.

In quarterfinals yesterday, West Siang beat defending champion Papum Pare 2-1, Capital Complex beat Kra Daadi 2-0, Namsai outclassed East Kameng 3-0 and APP beat Kurung Kumey 1-0.

Indian Weightlifting Federation Joint Secretary and State Information Commissioner Abraham K Techi will attend the final match tomorrow.

AAPSU comes heavily on dissident MLAs

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) today criticized the 21 rebel Congress MLAs from the state who are camping in New Delhi for the last two months hatching conspiracy to change the leadership.

“The MLAs instead of working for the welfare of the people in their constituencies are busy in vested interests overlooking the plight of the people,” AAPSU President Kamta Lapung said in a statement.

“The people of the state are suffering not because of their own fault but for the vested interests of the power-hungry politicians who failed to honour the mandate of the people but only think for their own interest. This will not be tolerated by the people of the state,” Lapung emphatically said.

He alleged, the dissident MLAs are camping at luxurious hotels in the national capital spending public money.

“We have nothing to say whosoever becomes the chief minister or deputy chief minister. We are only concerned for the state’s development. The money they are spending at Delhi could have been utilized for developmental activities,” he said.

“We don’t think that even after changing the leadership, miracles will happen in the state. All the MLAs are like ‘old wine in new bottle’ so people cannot expect any difference in development even if the leadership is changed,” he added.

Referring to the Chakma-Hajong refugee imbroglio, Lapung lamented that when the state’s future is in stake, the MLAs of the refugee-concentrated areas instead of fighting for the cause are busy in mud-slinging with the present CLP leader.

“They should remain with the people in this hour of crisis but ironically they left the people of their constituencies to fight for the cause instead of supporting them,” the AAPSU chief said referring to the September 17 Supreme Court order for granting permanent citizenship to the Chakma-Hajong refugees in the state.

AAPSU president categorically stated that, if they (the rebel MLAs) really want for a change in the leadership, they should do it in the state capital instead of camping at New Delhi so that public could also have knowledge on it.

Fire devours 3 houses

ROING, Nov 12: Three houses were completely burnt down at Jia-I (Latbong) Village some 13 km from Roing in broad day light today. The fire that broke out at around 11:00 am in one of the house, when all the members of the house were already gone for the day’s work, took no time to turn the whole house into ashes. Despite all the efforts of the villagers to stop the fire from spreading further to the neighbouring houses, the thatch roofs of the adjacent houses were not spared.

However, as the fire grew and seeing the burning flame and smoke emitting from the houses, villagers gathered and managed to stop the fire.

All the belongings of the three houses namely of Memer Lego, Rina Yirang and Sankek Degu were completely burnt in the fire accident. However, the losses are yet to be ascertained.

It was informed that though the Fire Service Station at Roing was informed in time, it took almost half an hour for the fire brigade to reach the fire accident spot and by the time it arrived the three houses were already burnt down completely.

On the occasion, PRI leaders of the area headed by Anchal Chairperson of the 3-Meka Anchal Samiti Block, Tibul Tayeng, reiterated its earlier demand of the public to place a Fire Station under Parbuk Circle of Lower Dibang Valley District citing that the fire accidents frequently occur in the villages under Parbuk Circle as the villages in the circle are densely populated and most of the village people still live in thatch houses. She further said that it almost takes half an hour for fire brigade to reach the villages under Parbuk Circle from Fire Station at Roing and by such time, the fire almost completes its job. DIPRO

Govt. should not be allowed to take major policy decision, BJP MLAs to Governor

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Leader of Opposition Tamiyo Taga, Deputy Leader of Opposition Japu Deru and nine other BJP MLAs, in a memorandum, have appealed the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to prevent the Nabam Tuki-led State Government from taking any major financial decisions claiming that the government has been reduced to a minority.

Claiming that 21 Congress MLAs out of the total 47 are opposing the leadership of Chief Minister Tuki for his alleged financial mis-management and corrupt practices, the BJP said “In a 60-member assembly, any legislature party must enjoy the confidence or support of minimum 31 members to form a government. But, the government headed by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki commands the support and confidence of only 25 legislators thus reducing it to a minority government.” As such, the memorandum said, the government has forfeited the right or authority to take any major policy decisions, like formulation and approval of new schemes and releasing of funds, making priority list and passing of any bills,” the BJP legislators said.

They also alleged that the Chief Minister is deliberately and indiscriminately releasing funds and issuing LOC under the Non-plan Head to ‘misuse’ the money which should immediately be checked and stopped. If not checked and controlled now it will have far reaching ramification on state exchequer which is already burdened by overdrafts, loans, debts and previous liabilities, they added.

The other signatories of the memorandum included, Party chief whip Tage Taki, and Tumke Bagra, Tamar Murtem, Dr Mohesh Chai, Laisham Simai, Kaling Moyong, Olom Panyang, Tesam Pongte and Kento Rina.

Tuki in NSDM governing council

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has been included as a member of the apex Governing Council of the National Skill Development Mission (NSDM). The only two other Chief Ministers to be in the Governing Council are of Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Chairman of the Governing Council.

A communiqué received by the CMO on Wednesday from Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship informed that the key institutional mechanisms under the National Skill Development Mission will consist of three tiers – an apex Governing Council, of which Tuki has been made a Member, a Steering Committee and a Mission Directorate (along with an Executive Committee).

Incidentally, Tuki has promised to create one lakh job opportunities for youths of Arunachal Pradesh within this five year plan. Tuki’s role as a Member in the Governing Council will be to provide overall guidance and policy direction to the Mission. The policy decisions, including decisions regarding resources, taken by the Governing Council will be binding across all sectors and Ministries. The Council will review overall progress and development of the Mission activities on a half-yearly basis besides oversee convergence of all skill development initiatives and schemes across all central ministries and departments with Mission objectives. It will also provide strategic directions to the Center and States to achieve its skilling target fixed under the Mission.

Besides the three Chief Ministers other members of the Governing Council include several Union Ministers like that of Finance, HRD, Agriculture, etc, Deputy Chairman of NITI Aayog, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary and prominent entrepreneurs like Chairman of Tata Group Cyrus P Mistry, Founder CEO of Flipkart Sachin Bansal and Founder Chairman of Team Lease Services Manish Sabharwal. Raj Bhavan expresses displeasure

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The Raj Bhavan today expressed displeasure over the reports criticizing the governor for his alleged statement on tourist inflow in Arunachal Pradesh.

Reacting to the statement of tourism department published in local media on Nov 6 last, the Raj Bhavan in a statement said “The Parliamentary Secretary and other Officers in the Tourism Department have failed to publish the figures of tourist inflow and revenue earned during the financial year 2014-2015 and also they did not mention the figure of the current financial year 2015-2016 till the month of October, 2015.” Why they have failed to quote these figures, need to be informed to the Media, so that the people of Arunachal Pradesh would know the actual performance earned, during the periods, the statement added.

“The Governor has expressed surprise at the statements made by the Parliamentary Secretary and officers of the department publicly criticizing the Head of the State,” the Raj Bhavan said adding “They never cared to apprise the Governor about the activities of the Department during the last five months nor did they verify from Raj Bhavan as to the real statement made by the Governor at the Press Conference held on Nov 3. While the Governor mentioned about the poor performance of the Department of Tourism in 2014-15, the Department has claimed the increase of tourist inflow during the years 2011-2012 to 2013-2014 and on increase in revenue, also for winning a number of National and International Awards. The Governor appreciates the Tourism Department for their reported performance till 2013-14. However, the Governor is not convinced that the Tourist inflow into the State did not fall during the financial year 2014-2015.”

Raj Bhavan further clarified that, in the Press Conference, the Governor had mentioned about the fall of tourism flow in Arunachal Pradesh based on a report (“Overall NE tourism up 40%; Arunachal tourism down -52%”) published in a local daily on October 12 last. Referring to the report, the Raj Bhavan said if the report quoting the data of Union Tourism Ministry is not correct, it would be relevant to know whether the Tourism Department had issued a contradiction thereon, and if so, copy of the same should be sent to the Raj Bhavan.

“The Governor at his Press Conference had specifically observed that due to absolutely poor road connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh and deplorable internal roads in the state, including the twin Capital of Itanagar and Naharlagun and the surrounding areas of tourist attractions, must have largely contributed to the drastic fall in the tourist inflow into the State in just one year’s time,” the statement added. The Raj Bhavan has tried to impress upon all concerned for taking priority steps to improve the road conditions when the working season is going to be over within the next couple of month’s time.

Unexploded Indo-China war era Bomb discovered

MECHUKHA, Nov 12: A live unexploded 1962 Indo-China war bomb was discovered at Mechukha recently.

Weighing around 3.5 kilogram and having circumference of 7.96 cm, the 81mm Mortar bomb (believed to be Chinese made) was dug out during the excavation at the ongoing construction site of Advanced Landing Ground (ALG).

Notably, Mechukha valley in West Siang district was one of the strategic locations wherein the fierce Indo-China war took place in 1962.

While informing about the discovery, Colonel R Parthasarathy, Project Manager, ALG, Mechukha, said that more such discoveries are expected in the construction site.

Meanwhile, Colonel Parthasarathy along with AGM NCC Private Limited, Venketeshwar Lu and PRO ALG Mechukha, Gebu Onge handed over the live bomb to artillery unit of the Indian Army for its diffusion.

Waii for early construction of Greenfield airport

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The 8th Bameng MLA Kumar Waii has expressed grave concern over the recent unfortunate developments related to the proposed Greenfield Airport at Capital Complex.

In a statement Waii said that much delayed Green Field Airport must be constructed at the earliest with all the facilities that are required to accommodate operation of Airbus. Greenfield Airport within Capital Complex is not only an essential requirement but also a basic necessity for the people of Arunachal Pradesh, he said.

The Bameng MLA further added that airways is most reliable and fastest mode of transportation and is the key to success for any activities be it for official duties, personal works especially like serious medical emergencies or unfortunate natural calamities. Taking exceptions to the unwanted accusation and counter accusation by various parties/agencies, he refuted the allegation claiming that he does not possess any plot within proposed airport site. Waii’s name was reportedly figured in the list of Greenfield airport project land affected people.

ABK general conference commence

MECHUKA, Nov 12: The 23rd general conference of Adi Bane Kebang (ABK), the apex body of the Adi community started with a positive note here in Mechuka. The four-day conference, which is being held from Nov 11th to 14th, aims to discuss and deliberate on core issues pertaining to the community and come to conclusive resolutions.

Addressing the gathering, President ABK, Kangir Jamoh, fervently appealed the people to donate for the Gumin Soyin hall in Pasighat whose construction is being taken up by the body.

He highly appreciated the multicultural milieu of Mechuka and hoped the same was maintained for generations to come. Hinting at the growing intolerance and communalism in Arunachal, Jamoh said, “Issues should be solved within individuals and families. I ardently appeal people not to turn personal problems into community fights".

Citing the example of Adi Bane Kebang Women’s Wing’s (ABKWW) active drive against drugs and IMFL, he expressed happiness with the fact that Adis are still at the forefront in initiating pioneering social activities and movements. He opined that the social minded approach of the community should be encouraged for the greater good of the society. He appealed the people to refrain from wild life hunting and requested the ADC Mechuka to put a complete ban on it. He also exhorted everyone to focus on growing horticultural products like oranges, kiwis and apples for economic purposes.

Further, with a mission to preserve Adi folklores and songs, a CD titled “Luman Miri” was released by Getom Borang, Vice President ABK administration. He explained that “while there are priests who can chant and sing during festivals, we are bereft of experts to sing during joyous occasions”. He hoped that with the help of the CD more people could take to learning traditional songs for everyday occasions like house warming parties, family gatherings etc.

A book titled “Traditional Dress and Costumes of the Adi” by Yamek Taggu was released in the conference. The souvenir book of ABKYW “Yaaro Moobang Vol II” was also released on the occasion.

A technical session was conducted in the second part of the day to address major issues affecting the Adi belt. Chairman Hydro Power and Surface Communication Committee (HPSCC), Tayi Taggu, elaborated on the hydropower potentialities of the state, especially Siang River, and explained why dams were the need of the hour. “Mega dams in Arunachal might not be fully viable, but we can certainly opt for smaller dams. We have already submitted a memorandum to the government in this regard”, he shared. Explaining that Siang is an international river, and since China has already started building dams on it, we must not relegate ourselves to the weaker side.

Later, an awareness report on Smart City Pasighat programme was presented by Denong Tamuk, Chief Councillor Pasighat. He requested the public to actively participate in smart city discussions and showed satisfaction with the response and was hopeful that Pasighat would soon be in top 20. However, he asked everyone to contribute regularly, lest the opportunity went out of hands.

Stressing on the need for greater development and administration in remote areas, AdiSU president, Mida Pertin, demanded for creation of two new districts in the Adi belt, namely Sissar and Shi Yomi representing the Dambuk and Mechuka subdivision respectively. He said that creation of these districts will speed up developmental activities and was therefore a genuine demand.

A report on the importance of District Entrepreneurship Act and its proper implementation was given by Getom Borang. A brief report on the achievements of ABK was presented by Bodong Yirang, Secretary General, ABK. Meanwhile, Yasen Bunyi and Aling Pinggam presented the report on various achievements made by ABKWW and ABKYW respectively.

Numbers of cultural programmes were presented showcasing the rich heritage of the community.

Consultative workshop on agriculture and socio-economic issues held

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Researchers from the Central Agricultural University (CAU), College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, which has taken up an Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi sponsored two-year research project to study about the agrarian crisis and socio-economic issues among rural tribal youth in North East hill region of India, conducted a consultative workshop on agriculture and socio-economic issues among the rural youth at Yagrung village recently.

During the workshop, a research team led by Project Director Dr. R Saravanan informed the villagers that the two-year research project will explore the status of rural youth in agriculture and their socio-economic issues involving more than 3300 youth representatives in 28 districts of 7 North-East hill states.

Discussion on issues like, status of agricultural extension and advisory services, skill development programmes for youth, youth migration from villages, self employment opportunities in agriculture, gender and socio-economic issues were also held amongst the participants which included rural youth, village tribal council members, farmers, SHG members, and school students.

Yarns, solar lamps distributed to

weavers under CMGLLS

PASIGHAT, Nov 12: Education, WRD, T&H Minister Tapang Taloh distributed free acrylic yarn and solar lamps to the weavers during the launch of Chief Minister’s flagship program Grant Loin Loom Scheme at Pangin here on Wednesday.

The Minister also distributed solar lamps to the weavers under Weaver Cluster Development Program, North East Promotion Scheme, which is being implemented by the department of Textiles and Handicraft under his active supervision.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appealed the beneficiaries to introduce creative designs in handloom products with good finishing to attract buyers. There is great scope in Textile Industry by way of self employment and income generation as people of North East are natural weavers, he said. Highlighting the various innovative and people-friendly programs of the state government, the Minister informed that the CM’s Health Insurance Schemes will also be implemented in the district as most of the people of the area did not enroll themselves due to ignorance.

Lauding the visionary policies of the present government and the active initiatives taken up by the Chief Minister, Taloh said that Arunachal Pradesh is getting the highest fund in entire North East and various developmental schemes are being launched. The Minister also informed that required departments have been created and staffs are being posted for proper functioning of the district besides, funds for infrastructure development have already been earmarked. While urging the officers to render their duties with sincerity, the Minister appealed the district administration to prepare the list of all GBs for distribution of LED TVs.

Informing that the district will formally be inaugurated by the Chief Minister on Nov 27, Taloh further said that the rare and memorable occasion should be celebrated in a befitting manner.

Siang DC, Dr. N Lego in his address, also said that the two schemes launched by the minister will go a long way in generating income and self sustenance amongst the people and further expressed hope that the district attains the highest development level under the active leadership of the Minister.

APCSD condemns Taga’s memo

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal (APCSD) vehemently condemned the recent memorandum of Opposition leader Tamiyo Taga to Governor.

Taga in its memorandum requested the Governor not to approve any proposal of the state government for major policy decisions like dissolution of the State Assembly and creation of new administrative jurisdictions etc. claiming that the state government has been reduced to minority and it has no moral right to run the government.

Reacting to Taga’s memorandum, APCSD maintained that the Congress Party has proper mechanisms in place to take care of its internal affairs.

Claiming that senior leader like Taga is acting at the behest of a destructive agenda of the State BJP to stop the development works in the state, the APCSD appealed the State BJP “instead of indulging in mudslinging” to prepare for the 2019 Assembly elections and try to win the peoples’ confidence.

The Seva Dal also appealed the people to participate in the development process initiated by the Chief Minister to steer the state towards peace, progress and prosperity.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Arunachal Pradesh also sharply reacted to the Taga’s representation to the Governor requesting him not to approve any proposal of present government and termed it as uncalled for.

Taga’s recommendation will not bear fruits because Governor will exercise his power upon any situation as per the provision of constitution, the NCP said and claimed that “Opposition leader has been misleading and creating confusion in the mind of the people since last four months, which do not carry any substance.”

While criticizing the BJP, the state NCP further said that BJP’s attempt to sabotage the Tuki-led Congress Govt. in the state will remain day dream.

Appreciating various flagship programme of the state government, the NCP said all Congress should march together for better Arunachal Pradesh.

PRI leaders and officials make exclusive

visit to Paki panchayat

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: The PRIs leaders of Paki Panchayat under Mengio CD block of Papum Pare district along with AE, JE (Power), JE (PHED) and BEO, Mengio took a two days rigorous foot march on November 8 and 9 to visit various ongoing projects and other developmental activities of the Panchayat..

During the visit, the AE and JE (Power) saw that many electrical poles were fallen and damaged due to rusting and outdated. The Department assured to extend possible help to replace the damaged poles and carry realignment work positively.

JE (PHED) inspected the ongoing water supply project.

BEO Mengio visited different schools of the the panchayat and found out that schools were running smoothly in which teachers and students enrollment were found good. Seeing the deteriorating infrastructure of many schools, the BEO assured to take up the grievance to the higher level.

‘MLA misleading people, no development’

ITANAGAR, Nov 12: Endorsing the allegations leveled by Kalaktang Mandal committee of BJP against Kalaktang MLA TN Thongdok, public leader Tsering Sonam and Tashi Wangchu have reacted to the statements issued by local MLA T.N. Thongdok.

A joint release stated that the statements given by the MLA does not clarify his stand on allegation of nepotism and favoritism.

Further stating that records prove that for the maintenance of various roads under Kalaktang Division, the state government sanctioned Rs.3 crores in 2014 under SPA but there is no sign of development on ground level, the release stated.

Alleging various other anomalies, the release stated that the MLA should come clean on his alleged involvement in awarding contract works to the tune of crores to his kith and kins in various departments.

High hope from Modi’s UK visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Britain comes at a critical time. He is visiting after tasting election defeat in Bihar and in the wake of uproar over intolerance debate in the country. Though British government and large section of Indian diaspora have extended warm welcome to him, but, section of people are protesting his visit. Ahead of his arrival, more than 200 writers including Salman Rushdie and Ian McEwan signed an open letter to Cameron urging him to raise concerns about freedom of expression in India during his talks with Modi. About 45 British members of parliament, including opposition Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn, signed a motion to debate India's human rights record. Even his hardcore admirers are starting to question performance of his 18 month old government. He had promised to speed up economic growth and create job opportunities for the youths. This has not happened as was expected.

Despite his visit to several countries, the foreign investment has not really picked up. Infact people are starting to question his frequent foreign tour and see it as waste of money. In this context, Modi’s visit to Britain assumes significance. There is huge expectation that he will attract investment from UK. If that does not happen, he will be under lot of scrutiny. The first day has begun on positive note. Agreement on civilian nuclear deal has been signed. UK has extended support to the India’s aspiration of becoming permanent member of united nation. During delegation talks between PM Modi and his counterpart David Cameroon they spoke of expanding cooperation in various area. He has begun the tour on positive note and hopefully rest of tour will bore more fruit.

Attention Chief Minister

Dear Editor,

Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to convey a message to our Hon'ble CM that when in July this year in the Budget announcement, your Govt. decided to grant Rs. One lakh (Rs.100000) as financial-aid to aspirants from Arunachal for clearing the Preliminary examination conducted by UPSC, we were overwhelmed. That decision by your govt. was truly encouraging especially for me and many other aspirants who despite hailing from poor family background are cherishing dreams of becoming IAS, IPS etc and to bring laurels to the state. Recently, after clearing the said exam when we approached the nodal officer in Dept. of Higher & Technical Education, sadly he was unclear about the amount to be provided to qualified aspirants.

He told us that they have not received any notice from finance dept. regarding the increment of amount for financial-aid. Sir, UPSC mains is scheduled for 18th December and will continue up to 23rd December this year. If the said financial-aid is provided to us in time then it will certainly help us in conquering our financial needs and boost us in realising our dreams of becoming Civil servants. Therefore, sir, this letter is for your kind information and immediate necessary action.

Stop bandh culture, find alternative method

Dear Editor,

Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to place my view regarding frequent bandh call in the state capital. Rather than bandh call pressure groups should take alternate measures like dharna, peaceful-rally, etc, so that innocent people do not get tortured. Also it leads to the stagnant of developmental process. Bandh call also hampers the life of government employees, business people, daily wage earner and so on.

The state capital is centre of the state where every official work, business, etc is done before being dispersed to the district. Majority of the population living within capital complex struggles for their livelihood. So, the bandh call in capital complex is unsuitable and it is illegal as well against the laws. Adding to this bandh call is neither solution nor it is for the public benefit rather it tortures us directly or indirectly in many ways. If the esteemed unions/organizations are really thinking about the state's development and for the welfare of the public then they should use alternative method to fulfill their demands. I'm not against them but against the Bandh Culture. We had witnessed so many bandh calls in Arunachal Pradesh but till now there are no outcomes of it.

Altogether 55 bandh call since 2009 by various unions, associations and organizations in Arunachal Pradesh have caused loss of over 1068 hours and resulted in the financial loss of Rs 3431.73 crore. Therefore such mistakes should not be repeated in the future.

Tuki and his tenure as CM

Dear Editor,

The state is witnessing massive power struggle for the last couple of months. As a common citizen, let me make a political analysis, which I leave to my fellow Arunachalee to judge. In democracy number matters and for now it seems Chief Minister Nabam Tuki enjoys that number within his party. Out of 47 Congress MLAs, 26 are supporting Tuki and 21 are rebelling against. Therefore he has majority and should be allowed to continue till the rebel MLAs manages to get more numbers than him.

It will be unfair to blame Tuki only for present mess. The rebel MLA Kalikho Pul has been longest serving finance minister of state. Why he did not properly manage finance during his time? Every time people ask him this question, Pul comes up with long explanation which even students of economic are not able to understand. Another rebel Congress leader Chowna Mein had held finance portfolio from November 2011 to February 2014. This was the period when financial situation started to get worsened. In that sense he is also answerable for the present situation. As per as performance of CM Nabam Tuki is concerned, he has done decent work. The vision 2030 initiated by him is a good one. Whether it will be successful or not, no one knows, but at least he is working with a vision. It's a rare for Arunachalee politicians to work with such long term vision. CM health insurance scheme is another initiative which immensely benefits the poor people. But Tuki has failed to get tough on a section of the people who in the name of various unions, associations and organizations have made life miserable for government employees as well as businessmen in the state. Due to lack of strong action against these groups, his government is seen as weak and ineffective. AP District Based Entrepreneurs& Professionals Act is direct outcome of the resentment people of other district has developed against dominance of the capital based business firms.

Chief Minister has sadly failed to improve the infrastructure of the state. Important road projects like Trans-Arunachal highway is progressing in snail pace. Classic example is Hollongi- Chandranagar stretch of four lane road project which has not been completed till now. The delay in completion of major road projects reflects his government in poor light.

Most of the government run hospitals and schools are in pathetic condition. There is no accountability of how the fund is used. He will have to come hard on these issues and take corrective measures. Especially road projects should be completed on time.
